Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has congratulated Hakainde Hichilema for winning the polls in Zambia.

Last week Zambians went to polls and Zambia Electoral Commission has declared Hakainde Hichilema as winner after amassing 2,810,777 votes to Mr Edgar Lungu’s 1,814,201.

Writing on his official facebook page Nankhumwa wished well the President elect.

“I am pleased to extend my warm congratulations to His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema on being elected as the 7th President of the Republic of Zambia. This is following the elections, which were held there on 12th August, 2021.

“I wish to extend my best wishes to the President-elect for his success as he prepares to take up the responsibilities and challenges of Zambia’s high office,” wrote Nankhumwa.

He added: “I am optimistic that the warm relationship and good neighborliness that exist between Zambians and Malawians will continue to flourish under the leadership of His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema.

“Zambians have spoken and it will be important for those that have lost to accept the will of the people for continued peace and tranquility across Zambia.”

Meanwhile celebrations are all over Zambia.
