Debate has ensued on the social media over the promotion of two police officers during the SADC Summit in the capital Lilongwe with many questioning the move.
On Tuesday, the social media was awash with reports that two police officers identified as Peter Josen and Abgail Chirwa Nee Tembo have been promoted for being too neat.
MPS Director of Human Resource Management Dr. Gift Chiundira confirmed of the development in a statement seen by this publication.
The promotion attracted mixed reactions as some applauded the gesture while others questioned the criteria.
Saulosi Kachitsa wrote: “Hard work, loyalty and obedience cannot be ignored by those in authorities. Let’s keep pushing.”
Contrary to Kachitsa comment Kanda Patuwe wrote: “What about those working in rural areas? Who will see their good work so that they can be promoted?”
Another concerned citizen Elizabeth Chirwa wrote: “What about a teacher who help learners to pass with flying colors to secondary School?? Hhhhhmmmmm 15 yrs no promotion .”
Effort to talk to National Police Spokesperson on the queries raised some Malawians on the matter proved futile.
