President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has called upon the faith community in the country to continue praying for peace and unity for the development of the country.

Dr Chakwera was speaking in Mzuzu during Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi.

President Chakwera then called the church to continue serving the nation according to God’s word.

“Avoid settling on fake news which has been there for ages,” said Chakwera.

For his part, Bishop Fanuel Magangani of the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi promised a continued cordial working relationship with Government.

“Your Excellency as a church we will continue praying for you and your Government. And we also want to congratulate you for successfully hosting the 41st SADC summit of Heads of State and your election as its chairperson,” said Bishop Magangani.

The clergy also thanked the President for having a listening ear regarding the AIP programme describing it as a solution to hunger challenges facing the country.

During the celebrations, the State President presented three refridgerators to Bishop Fanuel Magangani, Bishop Jackson Biggers, the First Diocesan Bishop and Bishop Alinafe Kalemba, Chairperson of the Anglican Council of Malawi.
