A section of inmates at the Mouny Frere correctional facility in Eastern Cape has smuggled a phone into their cell and broadcast a list of their grievances.

The inmates who went live on Facebook in an 8 minutes long video had a number of grievances which includes being allowed to order cornflakes and Weetbix and Milk.

They spoke on various issues such as being denied basic services and having poor sanitation rooms.

They alluded that they had been locked up in their cell all day long and were not allowed to go outside as per custom.

The inmates who went live using the profile of Qaqambile Qungqu mentioned that whenever they complained about the food to the warden he would tell them that he isn’t involved in kitchen matters.

They however did not disclose their names but seemed very confident and swore that if they continue being treated badly they will rebel against the officers and cause havoc.
