In a tragic development, a Zaka man was stoned to death by 22-year-old twins  over beer.

The twins Innocent and Enock Chari allegedly bludgeoned Owen Munengwa to death for refusing them permission to take a sip of his beer.

According to the police report, on the day in question, the twins, Munengwa and two other unnamed people were drinking beer at Baramanza Business Centre when the now deceased refused to let the twins take some sips.

Infuriated by his refusal, the twins became violent and started hitting Munengwa with stones.

Fearing for his life, Munengwa fled into a nearby liquor outlet at the same business centre  and locked himself inside the liquor store.

The twins reportedly followed and damaged the shop windows before leaving for their homestead about a kilometre away from the business centre.

In retaliation, after a while Munengwa followed them to their homestead for a fight.

Upon arrival at the twins’ homestead, they started fighting. However, when Munengwa realized that he was being over powered he took to his heels again.

The police revealed that the twins gave chase and caught up with Munengwa who they continued to pelt with stones on the head until he became unconscious.

New Zimbabwe reports that, Munengwa’s family rushed him to Morgenster Mission Hospital after they found him laying on the ground unconscious. He was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.

Munengwa’s body was taken to Musiso Mission Hospital mortuary for a post mortem.

The matter was reported to Zaka Police leading to the Chari twins arrest.
