Police in Nsanje have arrested two officials from Nsanje District Council for allegedly misusing funds.
The two have been identified as George Matambo who is the councils Procurement Officer and Maclean Kachali Public Works Officer.
The arrest of the two has come barely after hours Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director Martha Chizuma and local government officials interacted with the district’s sector heads and other stakeholders on corruption related issues.
Nsanje Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Agnes Zalakoma, has confirmed the arrests without divulging details as to how much the two officials allegedly mismanaged.
Sub Inspector Zalakoma has said that the two will appear in court soon to answer the charges levelled against them.
Aged 43, Matambo hails from Mlenga village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba district and Kachali 37, is a resident of Mwazisi village T/A Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district.
