The popular messaging app WhatsApp has grown to be the among the most used social media sites in the world with millions of Africans currently using it to keep their conversations with friends, relatives, family and business partners moving forward.

However, the Facebook owned instant messaging service has announced a shocker to its clients across the word in its new update notification on its popular notification blog.

According to the update, a section of WhatsApp users will be cut off from using the app. These are those whose phones are being powered on an old operating system.

The giant company advised Users whose smartphones are running on OS 4.0.4 or older ones to salvage their chat history by saving it before switching to a new phone before November this year.

You can check the OS version of your phone under the “settings” tab on your phone to know if the changes will affect you.
