Court dismisses Mphwiyo’s request in Cashgate case

The High Court sitting in Lilongwe has rebuffed an application by Paul Mphwiyo and 18 others for the court to restart hearing of their K2.4 billion cashgate-related case.
Defence lawyer Powell Nkhutabasa made the application on August 31, 2021 at the High Court.
But according to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steven Kayuni, Judge Ruth Chinangwa has rejected the application.
Mphwiyo was shot by thugs in September 2013 which led to cashgate scandal under the reign of former President Dr. Joyce Banda.
