The Correctional Services Department’s confirmed former president Jacob Zuma’s been placed on medical parole.
Zuma will now complete the rest of his sentence under community corrections.
This means he’ll be expected to comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subject to supervision until his sentence expires.
Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo says this is effective from Sunday.

Zuma has been incarcerated since July after he was found guilty of contempt of court for failure to comply with an order of the Constitutional Court to honor a summons to appear before the state capture commission.
He was sentenced to 15 months behind bars.
He has spent weeks of incarceration in the medical wing of the Estcourt Correctional Services before he was moved to an external hospital for further treatment.
