A senior resident magistrate court in Mzimba has sentenced a 45 year old man to 20 years jail term for defiling a 13 year old girl.
According to evidence given in court, the man Alfred Chipeya defiled the girl on multiple occasions in his vehicle at Raiply last year.
The state through Isaac Imedi asked the court to give Chipeya a stiffer punishment to deter others from committing similar sentiments.
Chipeya through his lawyers pleaded for leniency saying he has family obligations.
But senior resident magistrate Mathews Msiska concurred with the state’s submission and sentenced Chipeya to 20 years jail term.
