Sylvester Center for Democracy and Development Initiative (CDEDI) has written the Attorney General (AG) over the highly debated issue of imposing mandatory Covid-19 vaccine.

CDEDI executive Director Sylvester Namiwa is asking the AG to come out clearly on the legal position regarding mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations,

Namiwa has since given the office of the AG 14 days to answer.

Not long ago, the grouping also written the Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda on the same.

Commenting on the matter, Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) spokesperson Kate Kujaliwa disclosed that the commission is yet to make its position known on the matter as it is in the public domain at the moment.

MHRC is consulting different stakeholders on how the highly debated issue of imposing mandatory Covid-19 vaccination should be handled.

Recently, employers of various organizations have advised their staff to either get vaccinated or quit their jobs.

However, the Ministry of Health has on several occasions maintained that the Covid-19 jab is not mandatory.

Following this, the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative has once again written to the Attorney General-AG asking the office to come out.
