Good government expert Makhumbo Munthali has bid farewell to human rights activist Rafiq Hajat who died this morning.

Writing on his Facebook page, Munthali thanked Hajat for his contribution to the governance space in the country.

“Rest well Malawi’s seasoned human rights and good governance activist Rafik Hajat,” said Munthali.

He added “Thank you for your immense contribution to the governance space in Malawi. Rest in eternal glory patriot.”

Hajat, 65, died this morning following heart complications when attempts to fly him to South Africa were being made.

According to a family friend, Nandin Patel, details of funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized and will be communicated later.
