Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Zenus Ungapake Tembo who also once served as Member of Parliament for Dedza is today celebrating his 89th birthday.
Tembo retired from frontline politics in 2013 and he handed over the leadership of the party to the current President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera after emerging victorious during the Party’s elective conference.
Since then Tembo has been inactive.
He only appeared on public function during the inauguration of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at Kamuzu institute for Sports in the capital Lilongwe in 2020.
Many Malawians have taken to social media wishing Tembo well as he celebrates his birthday today.
Unconfirmed reports also show that President Chakwera will visit Tembo at his house.
