Controversial People Land Organization (PLO) leader Vincent Wandale has accused convict Thom Mpinganjira of failing to improve the well-faire of prisons despite being super rich.

Wandale said this barely few days after the High Court in Blantyre convicted him in case where he attempted to bribe constitutional Court Judges handling presidential polls case.

“Dr Mpinganjira in the cell. Of all charity issues he did he never donated to any prison. I feel sorry for him because being an old man and sick he cannot cope with Malawi prison conditions even though he has money,” wrote Wandale.

Mpinganjira is currently being remanded at Chichiri Prison after the presiding Judge revoked his bail.

The business tycoon offered Mk100 million to five Judges to rule in favour of former President Peter Mutharika but the Judges rejected the offer.

The matter was then reported to the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda who later reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Meanwhile the court is yet to set a date for Mpinganjira’s sentencing.
