Death toll in the fatal road accident involving a lorry at Kaseye River along Ifumbo-Lufita earth road in Chitipa District has now risen to 9.

The development follows the death of one of the victims admitted at Chitipa District Hospital.

Chitipa Police Spokesperson Gladwell Simwaka has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Simwaka says 63 others remain injured and one is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, driver of the Fuso Fighter lorry with registration number RU 1141, which had over 70 members of the African International Church on board only identified as Kingsley Mlenga, is reportedly at large.

The members were travelling from Ifumbo after a religious meeting to Lufita in the same district.
