Local Rhumba musician Chicco Kalirani,famed for hits such as ‘Galu Amulume’ and ‘Achithekere’ has died at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
It is reported that Kalirani, A childhood friend and brother-in-marriage Billy Kaunda died in the early hours of today of high blood pressure.
Billy Kaunda narrated that Kalilrani collapsed in his house soon after returning from church on Sunday but he was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital after a short stay at Limbe Private Clinic.
Kaunda said Kalirani is best remembered for his rare touch of Rhumba music.
