Nine people are in police custody in Ntcheu for allegedly being involved in the murder of a 32-year-old man, Chimwemwe Gideon.
Gideon was caught trying to steal pigs.
Ntcheu Police spokesperson, Rabecca Kwisongole, says the alleged assault to death occured on Saturday in a kraal for pigs.
Eight of the suspects are from Thanganyika village, Traditional Authority – T/A Njolomole while one is from Ntumba, T/A Ganya, Ntcheu.
The nine have been charged with murder which contravenes section 209 of the penal code and they will appear in court soon.
