The Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) is set to sign a contract with a contractor on the construction of a 50 Megawatts Photovoltaikanlage Nanjoka Solar Power Generation Plant in Salima.

Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, EGENCO’s spokesperson Moses Gwaza said the contract is likely to be signed this month.

According to Gwaza the project will be carried out in phases, beginning with 10 megawatts in the first phase.

“We cannot disclose the budget of the project at the moment, but once we finalise the paper work we will be able share to it with the public,” said Gwaza.

Currently EGENCO is also sourcing funds for the construction of new power generation power plants that include Mpatamanga Hydro Power Plant and Kammwamba Coal Powered Plant.
