Lingadzi police have arrested two police officers and three other government officials for using fake receipts to collect revenues on behalf of government and share the money.

According to Lingadzi police the matter was reported by Mrs Meryline Yolamu Deputy Inspector General of police after the Inspector General of police Dr George Kainja received a tip off received a Tip off That there were Gross MisManagement Of Government Revenue Happening at service Traffic And Transport Section.

The incident occured between the months of July 2020 And June 2021 in Lilongwe involving the following suspects (1) Victor Masonga, Dob:28/08/1975,Vge: Chiwalo,T/A: Mpunga, Chiradzulu, District police officer.

(2)Emmanuel V.B.Magombo, Dob:29/08/1975,Vge:Kamonga,T/A:Kaphuka, Dedza, police officer.

(3)Phillip Mwenye Phiri, Dob:21/02/1975, Vge Senzani,T/A:Phambala, Ntcheu, Technical Assistant Printer@Government Print.

(4) Theresa M Nkhoma, Dob:05/03/1975, Vge:Mwenyali, TA:Chikowi, Zomba,Occ: Assistant Printer@Goverent Print,

(5)Dennis Chikuni Banda, Dob:17/02/1963, Vge:Mzangamo,TA Nyoka: Mchinji,Occ:Assinstant Printer@Government Print

The same boarded on the use of UnOfficial Receipts Books in Collecting Government Revenue being perpertrated by Administration Officers at the said section. Hence Investigative Audit was constituted into the matter and it was revealed that the suspects, in the period of 1July, 2020 to 30 June 2021 collected money amounting to K14, 743,000.00 using Fake General receipts.

The money collected was not being deposited in Government Account Number One.

Further to that the suspects while Working as Administrative Officers failed to Account for  Government Revenue Amounting to K51,589,603.61,And also Abused Revenue Amounting to K1,580,000.00 used  it in personal matters.

Meanwhile Arrest made but no recovery made, Matter still under investigation and more arrests loading.
