A woman was found dead in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night. Initially, the police suspected that the woman had met with a fatal accident but probe has revealed that she was murdered by her lover. The woman’s body was recovered from National Highway 74 in Afzalgarh, Bijnor.

The woman’s body and her head were crushed, giving the impression that she had been crushed under a heavy vehicle. Probe, however, revealed that the woman was crushed under a truck as part of a ‘staged’ accident.

The deceased was identified as Manpreet Kaur. The 28-year-old woman used to work at a garment store in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Around eight years ago, the woman got married to Sukhveer Singh who owns a small business. The couple had a daughter five years ago.

Reportedly, five years after her marriage, Kaur fell in love with a man named Nafees Ahmed. He works as a truck driver and hails from Maniyawala, Bijnor. Kaur moved in with Ahmed in some time, The Times of India reported.

On Sunday, Sukhveer was called to identify the body and he revealed a piece of important information about the accused. Sukhveer said that Manpreet had been asking Nafees to marry her but he did not want to do the same. Following this, Sukhveer lodged a complaint against Nafees for murder and causing disappearance of evidence.

Based on the information and complaint, the police detained Nafees and started questioning him. During the interrogation, the man broke down and confessed to murdering Kaur.
