Police in Kasungu are keeping in custody a 27 year old primary school teacher for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 16 year old girl.
The suspect has been identified as Thokozani Mphangwe.
According to Central Police region deputy spokesperson Henry Mnjere confirmed of the development.
Prior to his arrest, Mphangwe was teaching at Vikwa primary school at Mtunthama in the district.
According to reports, the suspect coaxed the learner to sleep with him on pretex that he will help her pass examinations.
The girl who was in standard 6, is now five months pregnant.
