Head of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of the Upper Shire, His Lordship Bishop Brighton Vita Malasa has expressed shock over the untimely death of former Higher Education Students’ Grants and Loans Board Chief Executive Officer, Chris Chisoni.

Chisoni who once served as served as Executive Director of Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) died this morning after a short illness.

Writing on his official facebook page Bishop Malasa said he is deeply saddened with Chisoni’s death.

“Am loss of word due to the loss of #ChrisChisoni. May you rest in power Chris. Ku manda kunka anthu anthudi! REQUEISCAT IN PACE,” wrote Bishop Malasa.

Concurring with Malasa’s remarks former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Raphael Kasambara described Chisoni as a man who had the well-faire of Malawians at heart.

“This month has robbed us imminent social and human rights activists. Few weeks ago it was Rafiq Hajat . And then today Chris Chisoni.

“I came to know Chris Chisoni when he was the National Coordinator of the Catholic Commission on Justice and Peace. He was a soft spoken man but very resolute. A principled man,” wrote Kasambara.

He added: “We shared common trenches during the third term bid war. A five star general human rights warrior.

“Will remember him as such

“Fare the well general Chris Chisoni.”

On her part Malawi Human Right Commission (MHRC) Executive Secretary Habiba Osman said: : “Losing Chris Chisoni and Rafiq Hajat this year- adds to the shrinking space of governance/ human rights contributors! Muuse mumtendere.”

Meanwhile funeral program is still sketchy.
