President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has been installed as ambassador for the ICT sector in the country.
The Installation took place at Bingu International Convention Center (BICC) where Chakwera attended the ICT Expo 2021.
In his address, Chakwera said building a new Malawi also means building a digital Malawi to take advantage of opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
He added that this would ensure a Malawi that can digitally engage with the international community.
The President said he wants Malawi to go digital so that, among others, corruption in government institutions should be rooted out.
In his opening remarks Bram Fudzulani, President for ICT Association of Malawi said Covid19 pandemic has revealed that ICT is key in improving country’s social economic development.
He has since urged government to put in place deliberate policies to support Small and Medium Enterprises for them to easily embrace ICT.
