The Malawi Police Service (MPS) reminds revelers heading for the much anticipated Sand Music Festival in Mangochi to be security conscious.
The Sand Festival will run from Friday October 1 to Sunday October 3, 2021 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in the lakeshore district.
The MPS also warns the revellers against drinking and driving, over speeding, and careless overtaking to and from the event to avoid road accidents.
The MPS further reminds the party-goers of the need to always put on life jackets when in the waters to avoid drowning incidences.
The hotel and lodge owners are strictly requested to provide enough stewards and rescue teams in case of any eventualities.
The party-goers are also discouraged from the tendency of updating their movements on social media as criminals may track their movements and steal from their homes.
The MPS also calls upon parents and guardians not to allow children aged 18 and below to attend the festival.
To ensure safety and security at the venue of the event, the MPS has rolled out intensive day and night patrols and snap roadblocks.
