The Malawi bankers bank, Reserve bank, has donated assorted equipment to the Mzuzu University (MZUNI) Open Distance and eLearning student community.
The event, which took place over the weekend at the University, was popped in by the reserve bank to motivate the young intellectuals from the ODeL mode at the green campus to look ahead with their academic and social lives.
Speaking at the event, the Manager of Reserve Bank, Mzuzu branch, said that its the bank’s social responsibility to help the student community in different aspects of their academic line.
On his part, MZUNI Vice Chancellor, Professor Saka, thanked the bank for the donation. He added that the donation is timely and, that will aid in the strengthening of the education mindset of the ODeL students.
Speaking after the donation event, President of ODeL student association, Racheal Missi, was all in smiles after the reception of the gadgets. She attributed the good work that the reserve bank has done in serving the needy students at MZUNI.
The gadgets including 70 tablets, solar panels and power banks. The gadgets will be distributed to the needy students from all ODeL satellite centres: Karonga, Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Balaka and Mulanje.
Vice Chancellor, Deputy director of ODeL, Assistant Registrars, ODeL student union were in attendance at the event.
