Truck drivers in Mzuzu have joined a national wide strike in which they are accusing government of failing to meet their demands.

According to Chisomo Chipeta, a representative for northern region professional drivers union, government is yet to fulfill promises it earlier made over their grievances.

Among others, the striking truck drivers demanded government’s intervention to have their salaries hiked and provision of personal protective equipment.

The truck drivers have vowed to return work only when their grievances are addressed by the Tonse Alliance.
