Transporters risk jail term for non-compliance with minimum wage

LILONGWE – The Ministry of Labour has warned transport operators not complying with the minimum wage for international truck driver which was fixed at K140 000 per month effective January 1, 2021.

According a statement signed by Deputy Minister of Labour, Vera Kamtukule, non-compliance with the minimum wage is punishable under the Employment Act and carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
