Information reaching this publication indicates that government has bowed down to transporters and truck drivers demands.
According to information, this follows a high level meeting of the two parties which was held today in Lilongwe.
Minister of Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda has confirmed adding that the development has also led to the end of the drivers’ strike.
Face of Malawi has also established that among others, government has committed to giving 86.7 percent of wet cargo to the local transporters.
Again, the two sides have agreed to come up with a taskforce to ensure implementation of the resolutions made.
On Thursday, government spokesperson Gospel Kazako suspected sabotage by the drivers’ strike; claiming they had addressed their grievances.
