Minister of Gender ,Community Development and Social welfare, Patricia Kaliati has condemned the brutal killing of elderly people in the county as they are accused of practicing witchcraft.
The minister made the statement today as the country commemorates the international day of the elderly people under the theme , Digital equity for all ages,”
She said the church,community politicians and all other stakeholders should join hands with the government in protecting the old people in the country.
She commended the legal systems for arresting the perpetrators of barbaric acts towards the old people. She said old people should be respected.
commenting on the theme she said technology providers should incorporate the elderly people in their services so that they have access to information in this digital age.
She requested the Media to package their messages that can be reachable to the elderly people, pointing out that newspaper fonts should be enlarged and the messages should be clear and readable.
“We should ensure that the messages are disseminated in the language the elderly people can read,” She said.
Issac Katopola said the elderly people should not be left out in accessing information in this digital age.
