A magistrate’s court in Phalombe has slapped a 36 year- old man with an eight year prison sentence for defiling a 13 year old girl and a five year sentence for burglary respectively.
State prosecutor, Sub Inspector, John Wisiki, has told the court that on the night of September 13 2018, Emmanuel Kanyengo broke into house where the girl was sleeping and defiled her in the process.
Kanyengo has been on the run until he was arrested on December 22 2020.
In a related development, the court has also sentenced three men to 14 years imprisonment for stealing K14 million at Kamanya Village in Phalombe district.
