A boat has capsized at a place called Mtawa in Usisya, 16 kilometres from Nkhata Bay District.
The incident happened around 2am on Monday.
Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson, Kondwani James, says while details are still sketchy, both Marine Department officials and Police are on the ground for investigations.
“We are gathering that most passengers were rescued but the unfortunate news that we are getting is that one passenger is still missing,” he said.
