Senior resident magistrate’s court in Blantyre has passed a 14 month suspended sentence to Esnat Selemani, 53, and her daughter, Yankho, 30, for assaulting a nurse, Getrude Moffat.
Magistrate Akkya Mwanyongo has also ordered the convicts to pay fine of K75, 000 each and to compensate the nurse with K25, 000 each.
The mother and daughter committed the offense on 17 February, 2021 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital when the nurse advised them to leave the ward and wear mask properly as Covid-19 prevention measure.
