Director of Communications at State House Sean Kampondeni has said President Lazarus Chakwera understands the economic pain that Malawians are likely to go through following the increase of fuel prices.
Kampondeni was speaking today during the weekly press briefing at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.
“The president identifies with this pain. He understands it affects all Malawians. It affects businesses” said Kampondeni.
According to Kampondeni, Chakwera has already fully updated on fuel price changes and he understands the dynamics to it.
He says people need to understand that the Tonse Alliance had inherited a government that is was already rotten.
Kampondeni says the economy was heavily destroyed by careless borrowing that saw public debt pegged at around K4 trillion.
He also says the government has been faced with operational difficulty due to the Covid19 pandemic.
