The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has submitted a notice to the Speaker of National Assembly to impeach the committee’s chairperson, Shadreck Namalomba.

One of the members of the committee, George Zulu said has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Zule, they want to impeach Namalomba for his serious misconduct and misbehaviour which has been occasioned by his inability to provide objective leadership as anticipated by standing order 171(4)(c).

He said Namalomba issued a statement in defence of the former Head of State Professor Peter Mutharika on a matter that is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The committee is expected to debate the motion after 14 days.
