Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has assured Zambians that his United Party for National Development (UPND) administration will not let them down, because it is determined to improve their welfare.
Speaking when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s, “Let the People Talk Programme”, President Hichilema also thanked the people of Zambia for giving him an opportunity to serve them.
“We will not let you down, we are determined to work for the people of Zambia,” he said.
“We have only been in office for one month three weeks, but when you look at what we have done to bring order in this country, it’s like we have been in office for over six months”.
And the Head of State said his government is keen to ending political violence.
President Hichilema added that the UPND leadership is more concerned about the freedom of citizens.
“It is important for Zambians to feel the freedom because no one wants to be victimized, not even in trading places,” the President noted.
He has since urged the Zambia Police to maintain law and order by protecting citizens without violating human rights.
He said his administration will not allow party carders to sink more bullets in citizens as was the case in the previous regime.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema has thanked Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for conducting the 2021 General Elections under very difficult circumstances.
