The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative has written the Office of Ombudsman to investigate allegations of nepotism at Malawi Police service.

Sylvester Namiwa Executive Director for CDEDI has been accusing the security agency of nepotism in the promotion of police officers to senior position.

In his write up, Namiwa has accused top officials of favoring officers into positions.

But in an earlier response to the accusation, James Kadadzera National Police Publicist said the service is guided by the constitution and the police Act when promoting its officers to such positions.

However, the activist has gone ahead to write the Ombudsman over the accusations.

Meanwhile, Kadadzera, has described the accusations as baseless and only aimed at creating division within the police service.
