Regional governor for the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Charles Chamcha is accusing the Tonse led government of planning to eliminate him in reference to his recent attack.

Yesterday, Mchacha was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre after he was attacked at his home by unknown people.

However, the former cabinet minister is not coming out clear on the motives the government would want to eliminate him.

Speaking to the media, Mkaka is claiming that he heard his attackers accused him of being critical of government.

DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba who was at QECH earlier, said if the narration by Mchacha was true, then it’s dirty politics.

Mchacha also claims K600,000 and business documents he was carrying were taken by his attackers. Police are investigating this.

In other quarters, however, it is emerging that the incident could be an intrapart issue following public remarks Mchacha allegedly made against one aspiring DPP presidential candidate.
