Information reaching FaceofMalawi from highly trusted sources has indicated that three officers at the National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma) have been suspended on suspicion that they leaked information that exposed the bloated security for deputy chief executive officer, Hellen Buluma.
The suspended officials include a security officer, Peter Chilenje, Financial Accountant Manager, Mavuto Ndalahoma, and an Office Assistant, Paul Lapozo.
This however follows news making rounds on different media outlets disclosing that how Nocma is spending millions paying for extra security for Buluma which is outside her entitlement.
In one of the suspension letters which we have seen and confirmed to be true, the suspension is based on “gross misconduct relating to unauthorized disclosure of confidential office documents to unauthorized parties”.
Prior to the publication of the story, Buluma had been threatening and intimidating journalists over the same story.
