President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s special advisor Overstone Kondowe has won parliamentary seats in Nkhotakota North East on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket.
Unofficial results show that Kondowe has amassed 6, 729 votes followed by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Aisha Silver who got 1,929 votes.
The official results will be announced by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) any day from today.
Elsewhere, results from Dedza Central East Constituency shows that Joshua Malango of MCP has also won the seat with 6,246 votes.
Malango’s runners-up Solomon Kachitsa amassed 5,986 votes.
In Mzimba, Wachepa Phiri of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) has emerged winner of the Parliamentary by-election for Mzimba East tallying 3,633 votes. This is according to the unofficial results from all the 33 polling centres.
Meanwhile, DPP has won in Chimwalire Ward in Balaka, its candidate Osman Sani Mapila has unofficially been declared the winner for the Local Government by-election.
