The Anti-Corruption Commission of Zambia has seized properties of Amos Chanda who served as press Aide for former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
Confirmed of the development in a statement, Chanda said the Commission has seized K95, 000 and title deed.
“ACC has completed a search of my tenant at a house in State Lodge.They’ve seized K95,000 and title deed belonging to my tenant,’ he said.
Mr Chanda said the search warrant, although bearing his name did not list the property they were searching.
“Three vehicles with seven officers have driven away and refused to talk to me. One of the officers a Mr Chilufya told me that they were acting in the name of the president wants everyone to understand that no one is above the law,” he said.
Last night, at least 18 officers from the Commission conducted another search at Chanda’s home.
According to Mr Chanda, the officers also conducted a search at his sister in laws residence.
Mr Chanda said the officers allegedly seized documents which include farm workers pay rolls, copies of his diplomatic passport and an old green passport.
He said the officers also seized Stanbic bank deposit slips, letters of termination of employment for some of his farm workers and Lusaka City Council valuation certificate.
Mr Chanda accused one of the officers identified as Chris Siwakwi for assaulting his sister in law.
“18 officers from the ACC have just concluded a search of my residence and that of my sister in law and have seized the attached documents which include farm workers pay rolls, copies of my diplomatic passport and the old green passport; 2007 Stanbi bank deposit slips, letters of termination of employment for some farm workers, Lusaka City Council valuation certificate.
And sadly one of the officers assaulted my sister in law and threatened to pull a gun on me if did not stop preventing him from throwing the medication box on the floor. We have filed this assault complaint with their team leader,” Mr Chanda said.
