Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive party (DPP) Vice President for the South on Wednesday cheered the party’s regional governor Charles Mchacha.
Mchacha was attacked by over 15 people who were armed with Panga knives when he was about to enter his house at Bvumbwe in Thyolo District.
He was later admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
Speaking after visiting him N ankhumwa said he was deeply saddened by the attack, which he said is an attempt by some quarters to open the old one-party state wounds.
He then wished Mchacha a speedy recovery so that he can resume his role and responsibilities of running the day-to-day affairs of the DPP in the region.
Meanwhile some quarters of the society claim that the attack is from within the family of DPP.
