Ministry of Health has advised people in the country to observe hygiene following an outbreak of scabies which has now affected over 12 districts.
The Ministry’s Spokesperson, Adrian Chikumbe, made the remmarks after Mzuzu district recorded over 1000 scabies cases.
The Ministry’s publicist said going at the current rate it will not be surprising to hear that more districts are registering more cases.
Weeks ago, the commercial city of Malawi, Blantyre was the first to be hit by scabies, affecting more than 300 people.
Other districts such as Zomba, Nsanje, Chikwawa, Mangochi, Lilongwe, Dedza, Nkhotakota, Chitipa, Chiradzulu also recorded scabies.
The scabies outbreak comes at a time when Malawi is starting to recover from COVID-19, currently registering low infection and death rates.
