State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on Wednesday led thousands of Malawians in paying last respect to the departed Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Malango of the Anglican Church.

In his eulogy during the funeral,Chilima said Malawi has lost a gentle man of God who dedicated his life to guiding mankind to salvation.

Ordained to the priesthood in 1972, the fallen Archbishop has served the Anglican Church in various portfolios, including Bishop of Upper Shire, Bishop of Northern Zambia and Archbishop of Central Africa.

He retired in 2006.

The Archbishop who died on Saturday, October 30, also served as a MEC Commissioner from June 2012 to June 2016.

He was part of the Commission that oversaw Malawi’s first tripartite elections in 2014.

He is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren.
