Minister of Homeland Security, Richard Chimwendo Banda, is emphasising that so far, there is only one person reported missing in the country.
He says all other persons said to be missing, according to social media, have been located and they are back with their families.
Chimwendo Banda has said the only person whose disappearance Police are investigating is Emmanuel Chibwana,19, who was last seen boarding a taxi on 1 November 2021 in Zomba.
“All three people that have been reported missing in the past days, ranging from a five-year old to a 28-year old, have been located,the only person that is missing is Emmanuel Chibwana,” Chimwendo Banda said.
The minister has since asked the public to be alert whenever they are using public transport.
He has since disclosed that they are discussing with Minister of Transport on the need to look into the issues of public transport.
Chibwana went missing on Monday and is yet to be found.
His father said he boarded a taxi on 11th Avenue in Zomba heading for National Bank and on his way, he wrote a text expressing that the people in the car looked suspicious.
The Chibwana family has since offered a K1 million reward to anyone with information which will lead to Chibwana’s whereabouts.
According to Police reports, another man, identified as Peter Konzani, who was also reported missing, has been found and he is currently at Mzuzu Central Hospital as he had been beaten by unknown people.
Meanwhile,Tiyamike Donda, who was also reported missing after boarding public transport in Lilongwe, has been found in Blantyre.
