Civil servants in Zambia who were sent to early retirement due to political, tribe or any other unfair grounds can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Hakainde Hichilema administration has shown interest to reinstate them.
This according to a press statement issued by Patrick Kangwa, Acting Secretary to the President who said that those who wish to be reinstated should send their appeal letter for consideration.
“This serves to inform all former public service employees that were retired on political, tribe or unfair grounds and wish to be reinstated in the public service to send their appeal letter to the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Management for consideration,” read part of the statement.
However, the statement continued that those who have already sent their appeal letters to other authorities, should not resubmit.
According to Kangwa, the closing date of submitting the appeal letter is Friday, November 12, 2021.
Prior to becoming the president of Zambia, Hichilema used to accuse his predecessor Edgar Lungu of practicing tribalism an act which he said was dividing Zambia.
