Police in Lingadzi have managed to detain the driver and vehicle that were involved in a Re-Hit and ran fatal road accident that took away a life of a police officer during the SADC heads of states summit special operation in Lilongwe.

The driver is Edgar Bota aged 24 from Kabota Village, Traditional Authority Chadza D in Lilongwe who on that particular day was driving a Toyota Wilcypher Saloon registration number BU 2320.

On August 8th, 2021 Bota was driving from City Centre towards area 18 A and upon arrival at interchange, he hit and seriously injured Sgt Clifford Mangani No. B 5876 who was with his fellow officers at an adhoc road block during the SADC heads of states summit special operation and he was rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he died whilst receiving treatment.

Since then, Bota has been on the run until when he was detained together with the vehicle by Lingadzi Police.

Bota is a bank teller working for NBS bank at City Center in Lilongwe.
