Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Kondwani Nankhumwa, has taken a swipe at the Tonse Alliance-led government over the rising cost of living.
He said the price of fuel has been increased more than once since the Tonse administration assumed leadership despite promising to ‘take Malawians to Canaan’.
He said Malawians have been given a “dummy” and that the rise in fuel prices has also contributed to the rise in price of essential goods and services, including transport cost to hospitals and schools.
He brands it a crisis and calls for the need to take action.
Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe has admitted that cost of commodities have gone up due to several factors, including Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the economy worldwide.
