Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South Noel Lipipa has called for the immediate resignation of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Boards which is led by Leonard Chikadya over erroneous recruitment of Henry Kachaje.
The call follows restraining order obtained by MERA stopping Umbudsman Grace Malera from releasing investigation report on the appointment of Kachaje.
Writing on his official facebook page Lipipa has asked the board to humbly resign.
“When you rattle a snake, be prepared to live with the consequences.
“The best the MERA Board of Directors can do for us as observers of this nightmare, is to resign before we slaughter them at the altar of corporate governance and have their individual reputations rubbished as a result,” wrote Lipipa.
He added: “In case they choose not to, the Public Appointments Committee (PAC) must then recommend to the state President to dismiss the entire board.
“It is worth noting that people of good integrity will now be highly reluctant to accept or join Tonse Alliance appointments. But that’s exactly what the venomous snakes want and, in this corrupt animal kingdom, more hounds will be on the prowl as we watch.”
Meanwhile, MERA is yet to comment on the matter.
