A 70 year old woman has died while another one, 55, injured together with two other men after walls of their house collapsed on them last night following stormy rains at Kwitanda in Balaka.
Balaka district hospital spokesperson Mercy Nyirenda has confirmed that the woman died due severe head injuries.
“The 55 year old lady has been admitted due to severe head injuries and a fractured leg while the two men were treated as outpatients,” Nyirenda says.
Councillor for Chimwalire ward, Osman Mapira, says alongside other local leaders, they are on the ground to assess the damage while waiting for district council officials to determine the magnitude as several households have been affected.
