Commander in Chief of Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) Julius Malema has said South Africa’s last apartheid President F.W. De Klerk died with no honor hence no need to give him state funeral.
In a statement EFF said that De Klerk presided over a murderous and inhumane regime of terror against African People.
“To Honour De Klerk with State Funeral Will means to spit on face of gallant liberation heroes who suffered in his hands , and had their children murdered in his quest to stifle the freedom of Black people,” said Malema.
According to Malema, despite the fact that the ruling African National Congress (ANC) is defending De Klerk, he still remains a murderer.
“A State Funeral for F.W De Klerk would be an insult to the families of the Cradock Four, it would undermine the memory of the people of Boipathong, Mthatha, Bhisho, the people of Valorous and many communities who were maimed by his state-sponsored black on black violence,” he said.
The EFF has vowed to take to the streets should the government grant a state funeral to the late former president of the apartheid South Africa, FW de Klerk.
Former president FW de Klerk has apologised for his role in apartheid. In a video released by his foundation shortly after his death, de Klerk apologises for the pain and the indignity of apartheid.
